With five days left until the New Year you should be preparing a financial plan for 2011. Your plan should have a budget so you can see exactly where your money is going.
In 2011 your goal should be to slash your debt.
You need to figure out your wants vs. needs. Do you really need the most expensive cable package? If not get rid of it this week.
Look around your house to see where money is being wasted. Are the lights left on in empty rooms? Is there water dripping from pipes that’s turned off, is the thermostat turned up too high?
The gym membership that you bought last January but don’t use; can you think about alternative ways to exercise without spending $30 a month?
Do you have a contingency plan in case your job cuts back your hours or if your car breaks down? If not, now is the time to start an emergency savings fund in case the unexpected happens at least you will be financially prepared.
Do you ever think about what money really means to you and how it affects the way you save or spend it in this economy?
In your plan make sure you write down goals for what you want to happen when you get out of debt?
If you use these last few days of 2010 to plan and prepare for 2011, then you will be one step closer to your goal of being financially free.
What is your financial plan ? Feel free to comment.
