It’s amazing how much you save just by changing the way you spend money.
If you chart your spending habits for a month you will likely see exactly where your money is being wasted.
Get rid of gym memberships that you don’t use; you will save at least $20 to $90 a month depending on the cost of your membership.
I’m the biggest loser when it comes to paying for a gym that I don’t go to. My excuse is that “I’ll start working out any day now”. It’s been over a year since I set foot in my gym; just think how much money I could have saved if I had just given up my gym membership a year ago.
Trips to the ATM:
The only time I use an ATM not affiliated with my bank is when I am on vacation; and even then I am careful about how many times I use a bank terminal because eventually the $2 and $3 ATM fees adds up and I’ll be wasting unnecessary money just to use my own money.
I am someone totally dependent on bottled water but in order to save money I am gong to try to boil and bottle my tap water and pour it in a BPA free bottle. Eventually I will install a water- filtration system to save around $600 a year on water.
Park and Walk:
If you walk instead of drive you could save as much as $1000 on gas; you also have the added benefit of exercise which you will need since you’ve decided to give up the gym membership you don’t use.
Brand VS Generic:
Can you tell the difference? When you take a prescription to the pharmacy to be filled; or when you are looking for over the counter cough medicine; you have the option in most cases to choose generic or brand, do a side by side comparison of brand and generic then choose generic because many of the medications offer the same active ingredients; the only difference is the money you will save by choosing generic.
Cable and Phone:
Last month I was able to reduce my cable and telephone bills by $27 a month; All I had to do was call each provider and tell them that I am trying to “save money” so how can they help me reduce my bill.
Save your spare change; every penny, nickel, dime, and quarter that I save goes into a special jar that I use to splurge on my birthday or vacation. Also every penny that I see lying on the ground I pick up and add to my jar. That’s free money going towards my savings.
Just by making a few changes I am able to find extra money that can go towards my savings account.
