It’s cold outside, with dangerous arctic weather breaking records across the northeast.
So, how can you stay warm when it’s cold outside?
- First, you have to bundle up and wear layers of clothes to help protect you from exposure to the cold. Wear hats, gloves, ear muffs, and scarves for added protection.
- Drink something warm like hot chocolate, tea, coffee, or soup.
- Try to stay indoors if possible.
- If you must go outside be aware of the symptoms for frostbite, and hypothermia.
You can get frostbite from over exposing yourself to the cold. If your skin becomes numb or you feel a pins and needles sensation, get inside quickly because the damage from being exposed to the cold could be permanent.
Hypothermia happens when your body temperature drops below 95 degrees. Some symptoms include shivering, numb fingers, and slurred speech. This can be fatal if you don’t get help.
So, before going outside in this frigid weather take a few precautions to protect yourself and your family from this winter arctic blast.
